New Beginnings
You know you’ve changed.
But that doesn’t quite capture it now does it?
Change feels… too mundane.

And were paid in golden chains
Weight,
Shiny,
Oppressive,
Cloying,
Suffocating,
Weight.
Now, you’re in this in-between place where you’re suspended between the old you, and the you that has not been birthed yet…
Shapeless, formless, amorphous
It’s like you’ve been pulled out of a swamp of lethargy.
That soul-sucking exhaustion
That dog-tiredness
It’s like that frenzy of anxiety and chaotic mental, emotional and physical activity settled
And a pure gold liquid energy is now coursing through your veins
An alertness
A curiosity
An openness
An EXPANSIVE SPACIOUSNESS
A blissful state of BEING that is delicious
And satiating…. On the deepest level
Because the old you did not know that
Every little looping thought
Every imperceptible fearful brace
Every nano-packet of charged emotion
Every obsessive desire
Was a parasite
Taking up space, and draining you of power
And yet…
Now that you do, it feels like you’re stranded in the space between stuff & structure.
It is like the world went QUIET.
And you’re in a sailboat that is suspended in the middle of the ocean, with not the slightest breeze to direct it.
You’re a cork in the ocean, bobbing all on your own.
You’re in a white room with no doors, walls, floor or ceiling.
You did not know
How much you did not KNOW THYSELF
Until you let go of so much of
The sight-blinding fears,
The attachments,
The chronic negativity,
The expectations,
The soul-binding social contracts.
You KNOW THYSELF better now that you know
That not all silence is the same.
You’ve known a silence that is an absence – a void, as if the whole of life retreated from you.
And you now know a silence that is PRESENCE,
That holds you captive and weaves you into every other fibre of life.
A silence that fills and fulfills you.

That the silence of presence makes the building blocks of your BEING.
That spaciousness is YOU
With room to breathe, to experiment, to try things out, to learn, play and dance with life.
And now that you do, it feels like you hover in the spaciousness between one moment and the next.
And yet…
nothing.
No-thing.
Nothing moves.
You know full well that freedom has a PRICE
And it is so very expensive
It cost you EVERYTHING
Your relationships, or at least what they once were
Your job, and where you thought your were going
Your home, and what is most important to you.
In losing it all, it is as if your tight grip on all things loosened
Your hunger, your attachments, your fear let go just enough
To let the LIGHT in
To carve out SPACE
And in this clearing,
in this place in between…
you now see the LIGHT behind all things,
Their essence.
It is this essence of things….
The inner qualities of joy, courage, harmony, strength, that pull you in,
Even to the humblest of places.
And the discord, the cattiness, the inauthenticity and cruelty that repel you,
Even from the most glamorous places
For now, the LIGHT is your guide.
And although there’s a deep soul-satisfying stillness here
A contentment
An at-easement
An at-one-ment
You get antsy
Anxious
Sometimes even, a fear grips you…
